Zen is a school of Buddhism. The word Zen is from the Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese word Chán, which in turn is derived from the Sanskrit word Dhyana, which can be approximately translated as Meditation
Buddha acknowledged one of his disciples Mahakasyapa's insight by saying the following:
"I possess the true Dharma eye, the marvelous mind of Nirvana, the true form of the formless, the subtle Dharma gate that does not rest on words or letters but is a special transmission outside of the scriptures. This I entrust to Mahakasyapa".
Thus, through Zen there developed a way which concentrated on direct experience rather than on rational creeds or scriptures. Wisdom was passed, not through words, but through a lineage of one-to-one direct transmission of thought from teacher to student. It is a fact that such lineage continued all the way from the Buddha's time to the present.
Zen emphasizes experiential wisdom in the attainment of enlightenment. As such, it de-emphasizes theoretical knowledge in favour of direct self-realization through meditation and self-enquiry. The emergence of Zen as a distinct school of Buddhism was in China in the 7th century. From China, Zen spread south to various countries. As a matter of tradition, the establishment of Zen is credited to the South Indian Pallava prince-turned-monk Bodhidharma, who came to China to teach a "special transmission outside scriptures, not founded on words or letters".
Neo Zen is a centre for true Knowledge as it came to us from Great Masters through true Religions. The truth from these Religions has waned now due to man's ignorance. Neo Zen is an attempt to bring to life the Truth of those religions, which do not exist now and to help people to come out of their ignorance and discover what they are and get Enlightened.
In the material world man runs after money for the sole purpose of enjoying the sophistication and luxuries of the modern world forgetting what he really is. Neo Zen is to lift him from ignorance to true knowledge. This does not mean that he should discard the World and run to a forest in search of truth. It is to discover Truth here and now which is hidden in him covered by ignorance and hence the name NEO ZEN
Man has to come out of this ignorance propagated by generations of irreligiousness. Neo Zen is a centre to discover the religiousness and divineness in him which is here and now and not somewhere in the sky. This discovery will make one know that hell and heaven are here and not somewhere else.
